Education

The Red Wing Collectors Society Foundation has as a high priority for education about the Red Wing clay industry. The Foundation endeavors to provide information about the historical nature and role of Red Wing stoneware, art pottery, and dinnerware in American culture and history to broaden public knowledge. The Red Wing Pottery Museum has hundreds of pottery pieces on display that profile the pottery industry in Red Wing, Minnesota.

The Foundation also encourages and supports scholarly activity and research that will result in new knowledge and publications. The Red Wing Pottery Museum also has an archive of photos, catalogues, and brochures being made available for research.

These efforts include community outreach programs, didactic sessions, and educational videos. Many dedicated and committed collectors can be made available to share their expertise and knowledge of the Red Wing pottery industry. The Museum is a frequent destination for bus tours, school and university programs, antique dealers, service clubs, and community education classes.

For more information about the offerings of the Museum or to schedule the unique learning experience of a special seminar or guided tour, contact Museum Curator Diane Hallstrom at 1-800-554-9639 or diahall@redwing.net.

Larry Peterson (stoneware), Ron Linde (art pottery), and Steve Brown (dinnerware) were speakers at the Minnesota History Center on July 11, 2006 in conjunction with their Red Wing Retro exhibit.
